A web hosting tips

a web hostingIf you have a small or midsize business, or are a professional, you know that you need a website, and chances are good that you have one already. If you don’t, maybe it’s because you just started the business or got into the profession. And if this is not the case, what in blazes are you waiting for? Your website is your calling card to the electronic world, and you urgently need to get one.

There is a web hosting solution for every size of business including part-time professionals, so start planning your website now.

But if you have one already, don’t sit back and rest on your laurels.  It may be time to give that website a makeover. Is it really doing everything you want it to do for you?

What do you need on your site?

Certainly, you need your name (your business name if it’s a company, your own name if you’re a professional doing business as “John Doe, Career Counselor”).  You need your business address. (Even if you’re doing business totally by phone and/or internet, you need your address if you expect clients to mail payments to you.) You need your phone number. And you need your email addy.

What else do you need?

If you’re a one-person business, or an individual professional, you probably want to put your picture on your site. Putting a human face on your website makes it seem far less impersonal. People prefer dealing with another person as opposed to a faceless company, and even if you’re an individual professional, potential clients will be encouraged to do business with someone whose picture they can see and whom they therefore feel they “know” a little better.

You need some information about your business or profession, the services you offer, and your qualifications if you are a professional. These may include where you studied, any relevant degrees or certificates, or how you came to learn the business you are in, and any relevant experience that has taught you. You may want a listing of the areas you specialize in. If you’re a horticulturist, do you specialize in xeriscape or commercial design or ornamental fruit trees? If you’re a psychologist, do you specialize in marital problems, child psychology, or addictions? If you’re a writer, do you specialize in grant writing, business brochures, or ghostwriting? If you’re a commercial artist, do you specialize in book covers, corporate materials, or…. well, you get the idea.

Now, what about endorsements or testimonials? Do you have quotes from prior clients who sing your praises? Include them!

A web hosting company can carry your message to the world…

but what is your message?

You want to tell the world: Who you are, what you do, Why you are good at it, Why you are the best in your field (or the best choice for them), and any other laudatory statements that will put you forth to your potential clients.

Web a hosting company can get you positioned to tell your story to the world. Telling it to your best advantage is up to you.
